Artworx
was founded by artists & teachers who believe that if professionals across the arts community work together with schools & youth groups, art can be used to inspire young people, develop character & skills, increase young people's confidence, & break down barriers that restrict many young people accessing art.
We live in a performative culture where children are taught to pass academic tests ahead of all-round emotional & confidence development. All to often, the importance of art in young people's lives is overlooked.
Art has been repeatedly proven to have the power to help young people express themselves, aid emotional development, increase confidence & sense of self-worth. At
Artworx, we also believe that art can be used as a tool to increase social cohesion by bringing young people from different social & cultural backgrounds together. We run workshops & programmes that achieve all these outcomes.
Artworx also works with the wider community of all ages, cultures and walks of life, running community projects that connect people to their local communities, providing a means for social cohesion and up-skilling them in the process.
Artworx also see the value in involving history with art and have experienced the transformative and accessible nature that art can have in bringing history and heritage to life.
We continue to partner with heritage organisations in addition to other arts agencies in delivering projects that benefit local communities.
